Sold my Skyrim for 50 bucks, bought at 65. Not a bad deal. 70 hours of playtime for 15 bucks, worthwhile entertainment. The only thing I dislike about the game is the loading time, wished it could be made possible to have a smooth gameplay without any loading or glitches.
Next game to await is Final Fantasy XIII-2. Japanese version was released on 15th December. The videos and battle system with monster integration is awesome. However, the release date for the english version is 31st January, hmm should I buy after exams?

Why so stress?
The freak weather, after El Nino and La Nina, and increasing natural disasters worldwide spell only one thing - an imminent global crisis.
The world’s sea level is likely to rise by at least 3 feet in the next 100 years
If life sprung from probability of collisions and coalescence of a primordial soup, there should be many other earth-like planets out there. According to the Drake's Law learned in PC1322, technologically-developed planets tend to die out faster than young civilizations. In saying so, Earth might be heading into a deep frozen abyss like that of neighbour Mars.
Rising sea levels is linked closely to global warming, the heating of the Earth. It's a vicious cycle where water vapour traps heat from the Sun and warms the Earth. How will the cycle reverse itself? Hmm...

OMG this is so cute
Newly discovered hairy crabs that can live on probably forever without hunting for food, cuz they grow their on food on their claws.
Yeti Crab
Look at the video, the crabs are waving to you, saying "I'm here, I'm here!"

Related to modules
The most exhilarating and yet most tedious modules tend to stir up interest and relevance to life. Like interesting things about Mars or the significance of the stonehenge. There's more that meets the eye of the arrangement of the stonehenge, just as fictional books like The Six Sacred Stones would mention. Mars has subsurface water ice, but possibility of it containing life is definitely small, at least for now. Eons of years ago, Mars might have been the Earth of that era though. The Sun would have been hotter, and Mars could have been in the ideal habitable zone while Earth was sweltering hot. Asteroid remains also show similar correlation to Mars' composition with remnants of somewhat living-organism-looking fossils that were discovered in the Antarctica.
Also, recently newspaper posted an article that scientist discovered that carbon dioxide emissions is not the primary cause of global warming and UV absorption. I mean during JC we already learned that the primary UV absorber in the air is water vapour since it constitutes more than 70% of our atmosphere. Why the surprise? Ocean current process + Atmospheric current process should unveil more about the current situation Earth is facing but too complex to be studied. I mean, no one knows what's right below the deepest depths of the oceans, or the deepest part of the Marianas Trench. If life did originate from the oceans, like abiogenesis seek to explain, then Carl Sargan's video would point towards our ancestries belonging to the deepest parts of the oceans where no light shines. But what is really down there other than the weird creatures all over the internet with lightbulbs hanging on their head, prehistoric-looking sharks with exposed gills, translucent-skinned fishes with both eyes squared to the front etc. The other hypothesis, panspermia, too requires life to begin in the ocean, if life started off simple and evolved according to biology.

Mylo Xyloto
New Age Rock or Alternative Rock
Mylo Xyloto has some real nice songs like Charlie Brown, Hurts like Heaven, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall and Princess of China. The other songs are nice as well just not as impressionable. The instruments are similar to Viva la Vida but more polished. Good new mugging album :D

Quasicrystals
So much for learning crystal structures having bcc, fcc(ccp) or hcp and etc to only realise that these structures have a more limited usage than expected. We know crystal structures are derived from crystals itself, suggesting that a structure type is derived based on a crystal present of that structure, but applying this structure as the guide or basis for many other similar atom combinations proves to be limited.

Lo and Behold
The lump behind my head isn't a tumour says the MRI scan and CT scan. But instead it's a response to a viral paranasal sinusitis infection in its acute state. So the peripheral vertigo during NS was actually a symptom of chronic sinusitis, and now a full-blown infection. Guess i'll be seeing an ENT specialist this week.
[update]
ENT doctor did a scope through my nose to throat. My nose bone is crooked so it blocked more than half of the left hole. Isn't such a serious problem afterall :D

So what causes aging?
Doubt on aging gene
According to the initial study, oxidative stress, a proposed culprit in mitochondria’s mechanism of aging, did not seem to be a factor in aging. The aging process is affected only by caloric restriction, and oxidative stress actually decreased. But it does seems like it's not true after all. Incidentally, animals that breathe slower lives longer as well.

Einstein might be wrong
It's not confirmed yet, but the CERN produced neutrinos moving faster than the speed of light which is 3E8 m/s. And so teleportation might actually come true :D

Extinction of Dinosaurs
Extinction of dinosaurs confirmed due to K-T event (Cretaceous-Tertiary Event) or the Chicxulub impact by an asteroid. Crater location is Mexico.
Due to frreezing temperatures and 0 sunlight, autotrophs making food from sunlight died, and other organisms higher in the food chain died off due to hunger. If this event that occurred about 65million years ago did wipe out every living organism, there is no way humans evolved from scratch within 65million years based on the accepted theory of abiogenesis. Following the panspermia theory however, this can happen but panspermia is only a postulation, just like abiogenesis.

Ancestors of Humans
Maybe we did "evolve" from apes, or maybe a better word is mutate.
The distant ancestor of modern humans
Big News About Small Particles. And Why You Care
So maybe the Big Bang theory might be right after all. But where does this matter and anti-matter originate from anyway? From nothing?

Scientists Find a Star Wars World: One Planet, Two Suns
Our solar system was formed from a swirling nebula (huge gas cloud). Just like a ice skater on ice, the rotational movement caused the formation of the solar system in a horizontal plane with a single heated core, the sun and rapid cooling in the outer orbits. This planet with two suns pose a threat to the current accepted theory.

Games to buy
LA Noire
This game has micro facial expression and one of its kind detective work on PS3. Although combat, chasing, vehicle pursuit etc pales in comparison with other games of that particular area.
Elder scrolls V: Skyrim
Elder scrolls IV: Oblivion was the best open world rpg and skyrim looks just as promising.

The mystery has been solved
So I thought my Harman/Kardon soundsticks 2 was spoilt as it kept buzzing for some songs. I bought a Altec lansing expressionist ultra mx6021 from Sim Lim today.
So i moved my soundsticks to another computer, and it had no problem -.-
So in the end the problem was with my computer and not the speaker... So now not to make the new altec lansing redundant, I had to fix a DVD player to the TV to watch animes/movies/dramas etc.
And lastly, to reformat my computer cuz windows files are corrupted leading to the driver malfunctioning...

Singapore GE 2011
I think the choice is clear.
See how badly he is being treated when there's an overwhelming non-opposition. Our government should be based on democracy, which had railed off. A better parliament should represent the % votes of each party and not the winning party to be fair to all candidates running for election.
Bishan-Toa Payoh % votes for opposition should tell how much discontent with the decision in letting Wong Kan Seng to continue his post as Director of ISD.
So all non-PAP constituency do not get HDB flats upgrading when citizens in Potong Pasir pay taxes as well?
Same for Hougang. HDB flats not given upgrade in Hougang. WP did make an effort to get MUP for Hougang but according to PM Lee in a recent nus forum on the coming elections, he said that Low Thia Khiang said he had no problems with HDB upgrade funds. If so, why should people living in non-PAP constituency pay taxes and serve NS? And the replying MP Grace Fu did not even answer WP Low's question.

Uncovering the true colours of the swimming pool
Prof John Yip does it again!
Contrary to popular beliefs, the chlorine smell of swimming pool does not indicate recent cleaning of the pool but instead tons of sweat and urine in the pool. Think twice when u swallow a gulp of the water as it contains the most nutritious compounds that you would never ever try in your life :D
So the smell comes from the chemical product of chlorine disinfectant and ammonia (from sweat, urine, fart shit) to form chloramine
Evidence

Status: dying
I'm dying from inorganic chemistry; especially Frost diagrams, Nernst equation, Latimer diagrams ... the whole of redox chemistry is something that I won't wanna touch ever again if possible. It's just as bad as physical chemistry, or probably worse. Getting lost in the transfer of electrons and basic/acidic conditions. And I still have to memorize the hard soft acid base theory with lanthanide contraction. 3 more days ...

Periodic Table
I think i had the longest dream yesterday, and the origin was the periodic table i think. Qiwei told me his tutor asked his class to memorise the whole periodic table for cm1111, and subconsciously perhaps i was trying to memorise. The dream started off as i found a stranger telling me i was chosen as a disciple to learn how to fly. And the flying part was damn lame, i had to spread my hands like an aeroplane and run damn fast. When i wanna take off, i must think about the periodic table elements from Hydrogen until the end if I wanna fly damn high. So i kept failing cuz i was stuck at Sulphur. Then he told me some cheat method to reach the clouds where all the people could fly lived. I met some chiobu apparently the head of the flying people. Then some crisis happened in skytown so she had to take her leave and I had to head back home. When i started flying down, i went pass an army camp like wth. I had to camouflage and crawl to avoid detection. Then I saw my whole ninja platoon training -.- and then stopped for a chat then reached home. I secretly went to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve to practise flying and flew home woo oooh. When i woke up, i was trying to fly lol.

I stopped drinking coffee since army but it seems like coffee is finding me.
Especially since now my head contributes half my weight, I need it even more.
I've not decided on what to do during the summer vacation yet, but most probably an internship with MOE if they want me/if I'm good enough for it.
I'll need lots of money if I wanna go for SEP in year 3 sem 1 and a good results to do UROPS in year 2. Should I give tuition instead?

RIFT
it is one of the best game after WOW and Aion online although some people thinks that aion is better. In terms of interface, graphics, gameplay, quests, job system (soul trees) and rifting + invasions, RIFT hasn't failed in any aspects.
I wish i could play of course, but it releases on 1st March, while the pre-release is on 24th Feb. Well uni exams are around the early April corner, no time to play. Also, there is less need or want to play nowadays I've realised the false sensation gaming gives. People are hooked onto it due to a false sense of achievement that can't be attained in real life, but yet actually isn't any big deal cuz everybody who plays the game attains it anyway. Anonymity as well, although wanting to be anonymous but people want to feel great by publicizing their achievements yet hiding behind a fake name. Uncertainty and randomness are also what people seek in life. Surely life is boring if it is predictable, so gaming tackles uncertainty and randomness very well in terms of drops and spawntimes/locations and events.
But who knows what will happen after the exams LOL
