Distant Worlds

Just got back from Distant Worlds concert final fantasy by Nobuo Uematsu. It's a very special experience, and relived my passion in flute. It's the asian premiere and Nobuo-san himself came down to this very concert, and his presence alone made the trip down worthwhile. He's such a cute petite guy real life, and to think such a person could come out with such great masterpieces man. The conductor was also damn good, Arnie Roth, damn humorous.

The repertoire:

FFVIII: Liberi Fatali - Damn good intro piece to start with. The band wasn't too impressive but the music was. I love the chorale :D

FFX: To Zanarkand - Man one of the pieces i was looking forward to. I loved the dynamics and well the piece itself left me awestruck.

FFVIII: Don't be afraid - Another good piece, but being after Zanarkand, it was like overshadowed.

FFVII: Aerith's Theme - Didn't like this much.

FFI-III: Medley - The transitions were good and smooth, very well-written.

FFV: Dear Friends - Didn't leave an impact on me lol. Couldn't really remember it.

FFIX: Vamo alla Flamenco - Guitar soloist came out. Preferred the next song though.

FFXI: Ronfaure - The guitar was damn good on this.

FF Series: Main theme - Not a nice piece before the intermission.

- Intermission -

FFVII: Bombing Mission - Nice starting again. It was too short i felt.

FFVIII: Fisherman's Horizon - Didn't like this version, the video was good however.

FFXI: Distant Worlds - OMG my favourite piece of the night. The melody is still in my head. However, the soloist soprano spoilt it. Didnt sing clearly.

FFIV: Theme of Love - Nothing much

FF: Swing de Chocobo - Cute variation by the muted trumpet

FFVIII: Love grows (Eyes on me) - Didn't really like this version. I want Faye Wong :D

FFVI: Opera "Maria and Draco" - The vocals made it real nice. Good ending piece.

Encore: (forgot the first one)
#2 One winged angel - Trademark piece. Damn good, but bass was lacking.

Overall the band was only average, bass was lacking and not together. The balance was off and occasional mistakes here and there. The individual players were real good a few of them especially the pianist Low Shao Ying and principal flautist Cheryl Lim. Too bad no chance to go shake their hands... Well Nobuo made it worthwhile. Even though not a very good band played it, I was mesmerized by the songs.

Bought the artbook. Nice drawings and sketches :D Well i hope black mages will come to Singapore too XD

And thanks for your present :D:D:D

I'll miss today :(

Forever

It's been really a long time since i blogged. Been trying to adapt to my new workplace and hopefully till i ORD cos i'm really tired of getting posted here and there.

I took 190 today as per usual and i woke up due to shock. The bus crashed into a car which dao the red light and tried his luck. Woke up in a headache thanks to the car man and had to change bus. The ambulance also arrived so fast despite heavy traffic and rain. These days have been raining in the morning. And it is not a good sign as it is normal for rain to occur in the afternoon due to convection. But in the morning, it means the atmospheric pressure is changing for the worse.

After the incident today, I'm not really sure about driving. It's so stressful and dangerous even if you don't speed.

175 more days to ORD!!
